There are four districts: IROQUOIS (SW Nassau County), PEQUOTT (SE Nassau County), ROUGH RIDER (Central Nassau County), & SHELTER ROCK (Northern Nassau County). The Special Programs Division is council-wide and serves Scouting with Special Needs units, Scoutreach units, and Explorer posts. Many units maintain websites; click here to view these websites by district. How do I obtain a Eagle Application and Eagle Workbook? Our website has an Eagle Scout page, which has the application forms, fact sheets, and links for Eagle Scout scholarships and recognitions. Our National Eagle Scout Association chapter is named after our country's first Eagle Scout, Arthur R. Eldred, who earned the award in 1912 in Troop 1, Rockville Centre. What is Exploring and how do I get involved? Exploring is a worksite-based program that is designed to provide experiences that help young people mature and to prepare them to become responsible adults. The Council Service Center is the location of the Boy Scouts of America local headquarters physical address. The Council Service Center supports the Theodore Roosevelt Council, established in 1917 to serve Nassau County, NY. Our Scout Shop is located here. Camping and ActivitiesWhere can I take my unit camping? Theodore Roosevelt council has two camps; Onteora Scout Reservation in Livingston Manor, and Schiff Scout Reservation in Wading River. Where to Go guides identifying other camps are prepared by our local and regional Order of the Arrow chapters, and can be accessed at the camping page. Call the Council Service Center to check on availability of campsites at Onteora Scout Reservation or Schiff Scout Reservation at (516) 797-7600. What is a tour permit and when do I need one? If your unit is camping, hiking, biking, or participating in a local or cross-country field trip, all activities must be approved by the local Council. All Tour leaders should read the Guide to Safe Scouting (No. 34416D) before participating in activities. Local Tour Permits are available online or you can download the pdf version here. National Tour Permits are only needed if the travel exceeds 500 miles from home.This application should be submitted, typed or printed, to the local council service center for approval at least one month before your tour. I would like to be trained in Youth Protection Training. What do I do? Youth protection training is required for all adult volunteers (18 years old and older). What are camperships? The campership program is designed primarily for the Cub Scout or Boy Scout whose family has experienced an extenuating or unforeseen circumstances that may make the cost of summer camp or day camp a hardship or impossibility.
