Biography

Julio Garcia successfully completed studies in Industrial Design in Caracas, Venezuela, and completed English language training at The British Council in Caracas, Venezuela and the University of Bath in Bath, England.

Julio was a Youth Member of the Association of Scouts of Venezuela, Where he served as an adult volunteer until 2000. There he served as Senior Advisor to the District Program Committee of the Association of Scouts of Venezuela. He had overall responsibility for district Venturing programming. He trained and supervised adult leaders; oversaw youth training on planning, advancement, including High Adventure summer program activities. 

After relocating to New York City in 2001, Julio joined the Greater New York Councils; first as a District Executive (2002-2003) and then Senior District Executive (2003-2007). In 2007 he became the Program Director, responsible for city wide events, partnerships with museum, parks, and other city attractions. He also functioned as advisor for the jamboree, training, advancement and activities committees as well the planning of the New York City celebrations of the 100th anniversary of Scouting in America. In December of 2010 Julio became Assistant Director of Camping with overall responsibilities over Alpine and Pouch Scout Camps during both, weekends and summer camp seasons.

Julio served as staff at a National Camp School, a National Scout Jamboree, National Youth Leadership Training and Wood Badge Training Courses. He has also served as Crew Advisor in high adventure programs at both SeaBase and Philmont and as Section Staff Advisor for NE-2C and NE-7B sections of the Order of the Arrow where he is a Vigil Honor Member.

In 2012 Julio joined the Theodore Roosevelt Council as a District Director in the Rough Rider District.
