Information for Adult Religious Award Recognition

General

Adult Protestant religious awards are made available by the various religious bodies as a recognition for faithful members of a Christian family (congregation) who give long and dedicated service to youth in Scouting, i.e. their ministry is to youth (which may but need not include those of their own church) through Scouting.

Like the other adult awards, these are not earned based upon a given detailed set of requirements, but rather represents peer nomination and/or church recognition of the individual.  Self-nominations, therefore, are decidedly inappropriate.

Denominational Awards

There are many Protestant denominations.  Some are called "mainline" and others are small bodies of congregations or even individual churches.  The Adult program, like the Youth program, may have a denominational aspect to it or it may use the general Protestant God and Service recognition through P.R.A.Y (Program of Religious Activity for Youth). Examples of the specific denominational awards include the Lutheran Lamb of God Award and the Episcopal Saint George Award.

The Role of the Protestant Committee on Scouting

The committee is available to assist with  and has as one of its goals to insure that deserving adult Protestant Scouters are recognized.  Please complete the form and send it to the Council Service Center to the attention of the Protestant Committee; it will enable the committee to help an individual, unit, or congregation complete the necessary steps towards obtaining the appropriate adult church award.  This help includes assistance to arrange the appropriate award ceremony in a religious service and/or Court of Honor.  Please fill out the form with as much information as possible; if you are in doubt as to the denomination of the nominee, please enter the denomination based on your personal knowledge.  If the nominee is not Protestant, our committee will refer the nomination to the appropriate TRC religious committee for consideration in their recognition program.
