Staff Photo at the HEARTS Camporee - 12 June 2009

The HEARTS Camporee has been held for Scouting with Special Needs packs and troops since the late 1980's. The HEARTS camporee is held on the second Friday of June every year at the UCP Center in Roosevelt from 10 AM to 2 PM.  The Special Programs Division welcomes Scouts (who might be able to obtain community service credit) and Scouters to assist us in delivering the program to our SPD units.

Cub Scout, Boy Scout, and Girl Scouts participate in a midway of Scouting skills, crafts, and demonstrations, followed by a barbeque and awards ceremony to recognize the Scouts that have advanced during the year.  This year, one of our Learning for Life groups participated for the first time.  A great time was had by all in our rainy day site at the UCP Center.

We recognize the following volunteers and organizations that made this year's HEARTS Camporee successful:

SPD: Susana Issacson, Georgie Connett,  Jim Ferris and son Sean (P.607), Charles Mills, Dan Katzenstein, Cheryl Plavin, Larry Plavin, Diane Witt, Eric Anderson

SPD Unit Leaders: PACK 11 Malkie  Adler & Linda Rosenfeld.  TROOP 11 Gloria Jean Berberich, Erica Ober, Barbara Barcia, & Ann Russo

TRC Volunteers: Joe Bacchi (T.381) Sal Ciampo (T. 261), Paul Devejian (P.607) and his son Austin (P.607),  Tom Fabian (NESA), Al Gast (T. 776), David Goldblum (P.372), Gretchen Goldblum (P.372) and their son Wade(P.372), Hal Rosenfeld (NESA), D.J. Schulz (T. 261), Lester Wilensky (T. 517)

TRC Staff:Kevin O'Shea, John Zseller, Kathy Brown, Sarah Greller, Johely Arias

Organizations: American Legion, Center for Science Teaching and Learning, Girl Scouts of Nassau County, Nassau County Police Department
