SUNDAY MASS OBLIGATION

Father Gerard Gentleman, Diocesan Scouting Chaplain, has asked that Catholic Scouts, leaders and parents be reminded that attendance at Sunday Mass is a vital part of their faith life.
Plans should be made to attend Sunday Mass during or after any camping trip or scouting activity. Participation in a scouting activity does NOT excuse a scout, parent or leader from this obligation.

SCOUTER DEVELOPMENT: Lay Apostolate Formation for Scouting

Formation is a program where through guided reflection and active participation,Scouters discern how they are called by Christ and His church to leadership, to holiness, to conversion and to worship. Adult formation occurs most completely when adults both listen to other adults and exchange their ideas and experiences with them. Throughout the process, participants recognize the prompting of the Holy Spirit within a small community of faith.

This year Scouter Development will be held in the Parish Center of Saint Francis de Sales Church in Patchogue, New York.

The cost for the day is free. Bring your lunch. Coffee will be available. The day will begin with Registration at 8:30 am and will conclude with the 5:00 pm Mass .

Those interested in attending should contact the Catholic Scouting Office at 516-678-5800, ext. 245 or scouting@drvc.org. For additional information, download the flyer.
