Committed to Serving Scouts with Special Needs

Children with special needs dream of joining and participating in Scouting. They want to be treated just like any other Scout and be recognized for their hard work. The Theodore Roosevelt Council is committed to delivering a quality program for the benefit of all youth.  As part of this program, each year the council hosts an annual "Hearts camporee" to deliver an outdoor program experience.  Scouts participate in variety of outdoor activities and earn the distinctive "Hearts" patch.

About the Hearts Camporee

The HEARTS Camporee has been held for Scouting with Special Needs packs and troops since the late 1980's. The HEARTS camporee is held on the second Friday of June every year at the UCP Center in Roosevelt from 10 AM to 2 PM.  The Special Programs Division welcomes Scouts (who might be able to obtain community service credit) and Scouters to assist us in delivering the program to our SPD units.

Cub Scout, Boy Scout, and Girl Scouts participate in a midway of Scouting skills, crafts, and demonstrations, followed by a barbeque and awards ceremony to recognize the Scouts that have advanced during the year.
