Short Term Camping

Year-round (Weekend) camping facilities include tent sites and the Health Lodge. These sites are available from September 1 through May 31; the camp is scheduled for summer camp in June, July, and August.  For information about summer camp, please go to the Onteora Scout Reservation home page.

Onteora Scout Reservation provides access to trails in the Willowemoc Wild Forest , which is part of the NYS Catskill Forest Preserve . The NYS Dept. of Environmental Conservation has rules  governing hiking and camping on state lands; please review  before planning an extended trip from the camp onto state lands and trails, and pay note to the advisory on the use of bear canisters. Individuals and units are solely responsible to review and observe all DEC regulations when they are hiking or camping on state land.

During the winter months, temperatures at the camp will be very cold and snow is expected in December, January, February, and March.  Troops and crews should review cold weather camping procedures and precautions before arriving at camp.  Click HERE for the the section on winter camping safety in the Guide to Safe Scouting or the article, "Be Prepared" for Winter Safety.  Troop camping know-how is available by following this link.

Please review the seasonal warnings from the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation.
