Museum of American Armor's Boy Scout Scholarship Challenge

Thank you for participating in The Museum of American Armor essay program open to members of the Theodore Roosevelt Council of the Boy Scouts of America for the purpose of creating a better understanding of the heroes within our own families and those throughout our communities.

Some $10,000 in scholarship dollars will be distributed to selected winners with first prize being $5,000, second prize, $3,000, third prize, $2,000 and a half a dozen honorable mentions being offered opportunities to climb aboard period operational armor at the Museum of American Armor at Old Bethpage Village Restoration.

Your submission can be of any length and be accompanied by copies of photos (please do not use originals) that support your essay. It may be mailed to the Museum of American Armor, 1303 Round Swamp Road, Old Bethpage Village Restoration, Old Bethpage, New York 11804, attention: Essay Committee or can be e-mailed to the museum care of the contact button on our web site.

Awards will be presented on how thoroughly the author has researched a veteran, living or deceased, and his or her role in defending freedom and what insight the author gained as a result of this effort. The veteran may be a member of their family, a neighbor, friend or acquaintance. The individual may still be on active duty, recently returned from deployment or has not been in uniform for decades. 

The submission should be researched and written without the assistance of parent, guardian or peers however it may be fact checked by a parent, veteran in question or guardian.  The individual’s scout master is asked to review and sign the submission.

The deadline for submission is December 15th
