Jamboree On the Trail 2018

It’s an annual day for the World Scout Movement to hike together!
Saturday, May 12, 2018 is the 20th annual Jamboree on the Trail (JOTT)

where all Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Venturers, Sea Scouts, Explorers, OA Chapters
Girl Scouts, and scout families are encouraged to take to the trails! Scouts and
scouters from around the world will be participating and enjoying the trails on the
same day!
About JOTT: JOTT was the outcome of a Canadian Scout troop that hiked the Trans
Canada Trail in 1997 and reported their experience. This began a conversation
about hiking and creating a Scout Hiking Day! In 1998 this idea became JOTT where
the first one included approximately 25,000 people from the World Brotherhood
and Sisterhood of scouting. JOTT is an annual event for every member in the
scouting family in all 160 countries with Scout organizations! Learn More at
Join JOTT, hit the trail and celebrate with Scouts worldwide! It takes place the
second Saturday every May and has grown every year all over the globe! Combine
the experience with good turn for conservation, the outdoors, and/or
international Scouting and have a positive impact on your local trail, park, camp,
or community facility!!
JOTT programs are organized locally by the volunteer Scout leaders – each unit
prepares the actual details of time, place who and what; all following all the rules
and regulations used in their respective scouting program for a unit activity. Your
activity should also use Leave No Trace/Tread Lightly principles to promote good
stewardship of the outdoors in our unit activities. There is no minimum distance to
hike or walk!
