2017 Cub Scout Day Camp
A BSA Nationally Accredited camping program offered by the Theodore Roosevelt Council
CUB SCOUT DAY CAMP
Does my son have to be in the Theodore Roosevelt Council to attend Day Camp?
Nope! Any registered Cub Scouts and their siblings of Cub Scout age are invited to attend one of our 2017 Summer Day Camp themed weeks!
How does the the "bus thing" work?
For 2017 we are venturing into localized Day Camp in County. For July 10-14th, July 17-21st and Aug 14-18th drop off & pick up will be at the camp by a parent or family member. Each week we will be going on a field trip. The 3 Weeks that our Day Camp will be based out at Schiff Scout Reservation we will be using busing to & from camp. The 3 Weeks are:
July 24 - July 28
July 31 - Aug 4
Aug 7 - Aug 11
My son or daughter takes prescription medication-how will you handle that at camp?
The health and safety of our campers is our primary concern. So much so that we have a trained EMT on staff every single day. If your son or daughter takes prescription medication please be sure to pack it in a Ziploc bag with their name on it. A Den Leader will then hand the medication to our EMT who will oversee its distribution at the proper time.
What is the average day like?
We always start the day with pledge and scout oath & scout law then we rotate through our program areas-Crafts, Aquatics, Scoutcraft, Nature, Shooting Sports (BB Guns & Archery) and Field Sports. We usually do two program areas before lunch and three after lunch. We then send them home with a light snack!
What about the Staff?
Most of our staff is returning from the last few summers, and are very familiar with the camp. We take training very seriously. Our Shooting Sports Director is NRA Certified, our Aquatics Director and Program Director are National Camp School Certified to run Aquatics (a certification that required almost two total weeks of training), and we surpass the Department of Health of Suffolk County's minimum mandate for CPR Training.
What should they bring day-to-day?
What should they wear?
Easy! Closed-toe shoes with socks and whatever is comfortable! Every camper will be given a shirt, but they don't have to wear it.
How much does it all cost?
The total fee is $400 per week, which includes:
Weekly Field Trip
Adventures based on Weekly Themes
And all of the program that they can handle!
Multiple Week Discount:
Bundle two weeks back to back and receive $100 off the second week. You can also return to camp for a second week, and you are eligible for a $100 discount for that second week! Just call the Council Office to take advantage of this discount!
