2017 Crew Members Wanted!

If you are a youth looking for an adventure of a lifetime, the Theodore Roosevelt Council will be sending two crews to Philmont in the summer of 2017. Each crew of 12 (3 adults and 9 youth) will begin training in the Fall and continue into the Spring to prepare for a great adventure in the Southwest high desert.

Philmont is the National Boy Scouts High Adventure base in the Sangre de Christo Mountain Range of New Mexico. Activities include backpacking from staffed camps to unstaffed camps for 11 days and 10 nights. Elevations range from 6,500 to 12,441 feet and activities include mountain man rendezvous, black powder rifle shooting, 30-06 rifle reloading and shooting, 3-D archery, burro packing, horseback rides, rock climbing and mountain biking and many other activities.

The cost of the trip is around $1900 (dependent on airfare) and we are accepting applications at the council office for the 2017 contingent
. Please contact High Adventure Chairman Doug Davis  or Matt Conlon at the council office, 516-797-7600, for more information. If you have a small unit or just a couple youth interested, this is a trip that shouldn’t be missed.
